Today we went to
an Anglican church. I suppose
technically it isn’t Anglican – the Ugandan Anglican church broke away when the
Anglican church ordained gay bishops.
It’s officially called the Church of Uganda.
It was an
interesting service – a little too Pentecostal to be Anglican and a little too
Anglican to be Pentecostal. There wasn’t
communion, but there was an altar call and approx. 80 people went to the front
to accept Jesus.
Afterwards, Beth
took us to see her uni campus, and then we walked through town so Esther could
buy some things. I bought some dark
chocolate but nothing else. I came
prepared with most things, so I didn’t need much.
Anne had 2
interviews about Bushikori, one for TV and one for radio, so we didn’t see her
much during the day.
Being a day of
rest, when I got home I went to bed for a nap, then did some reading until tea
time. After dinner, David, Anne and I
talked about the rise of the gay agenda in Australia. They don’t have anything like it here – it is
punishable by death. David was amazed at
how Christians in the West are able to stand firm in spite of the growth of
feminism, the gay agenda, etc, both within and outside of the church. I pointed out that we thought much the same
thing with their government corruption, bribes and general poverty, and that in
both cases the answer was to turn to God, to read and obey His Word.
